Howell is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 9,232. It is the county seat of Livingston County6 and is located mostly within Howell Township, but is politically independent.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.2 km2 (4.3 mi2). 10.6 km2 (4.1 mi2) of it is land and 0.5 km2 (0.2 mi2) of it is water. The total area is 4.64% water. It is home to Howell Public Schools and Howell High School.
